Bass Drum, beat of the band...

The Band is definition, Percussion is the Heart, Bass Drum is the muscles that keep pumping...

When the bass drums rushes, the band rushes; when the bass drums have a heart attack... no, the band won't stop.... the band just complains... then ah muz complains.... then we all complain....

This just isn't right.... but ya..... it happens all the time....

Just give the bass drummers some time.... We will try our best to progress, make it...

Sorry for a lousy day of slow tempo practice today.... I need a new bass drum stick.... -_-.....

Prediction once accurate

I had a prediction, that something would happen, and happened today...

Having felt the prediction, I wrote with a strange feeling something is going to happen, and it did....

Lo and behold, Flawless, Perfect? here he is.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Are you really that of the image you portray - flawless?

Are you flawless? Perfect, and sharp, never a blunt end?
Are you without mistakes? without weakness?
Are you built with hides of beast, yet the temper of a sheep?
Are you so straight that your life is labelled from A to Z?

But,
Aren't you broken by the Tests of life?
Aren't you failing in the deepest of sweats?
Aren't you trembling in faces of thousands?
Aren't you so overwhelmed by the loads of duties?

YET?
You never broke, never questioned, never sigh, never even thought of saying no. Only a smile, a nod, and all jobs done?

YET?
You never stopped charging, never stopped to rest, never stopped to even catch a breath. Only thinking of the destination, and reaching it?

YET?
You never thought of the embarrassment, in fact, not even taking it as existing at all, never stopped when decisions are made, never turned back even when the crowd says no. Only making sure that all is archived, making everything work, making all possible when you say it is possible?

YET?
You never faltered in the face of a mess, never break when you see waste before, never stop when a stack of bricks stand in your way. Only to tidy up the mess, make waste become treasures, and make walls with bricks once scattered?

Are you that? Perfect? Flawless? Without weakness?
Are you? Are you?

Ending is just the Beginning, NHMB, make it, not break it.

Alas, the day to say goodbye to Junt has come. Ending this week's intensive training brings along a feeling of pride, embarrassment, achievement, loss, triumph, joy, sadness and improvement.

But the end of this week is the beginning of a new challenge... homework!!!... just joking, off topic...

Finishing half of this year's show at this timing is a great accomplishment compared to last year, where at this time we just only received our first movement.

Although there are a lot of flaws during the past week's practices and run-troughs, it is what to expect, given time, we will definitely polish up our act.

Percussion, man, we are making it, and not breaking it. No point of having the I.D.I.O.T. programme if we break it.

I just hope that we would enjoy this year's marching season, so as the supporters, seniors, juniors, fans, parents, and the crowd, after all, it's not about winning, it's about having fun, enjoy yourself, and let others enjoy it too.

Last of all, Just Feel It!

Cramping Muscles, Breaking Bones and Feeling the Grove

Just Feel It, I told myself, anticipating the arrival of Junt, hoping that I'd be better than the last round he came. But time flies... And I really can Feel It... I feel pain all over my body...

On the subject of this few days activity in Band, Intensive is the best word to describe it... I.D.I.O.T. in short for the the percussion, "Intensive Drum Informative Obsevation & Training", is the term I con for it, having Junt, an expert drummer to actually have a Percussion wrokshop with us, tough... And for the whole, very tough... It's hot blazing Sun and wet sticky sweat.

But it is a great satisfaction after each practice, having archive a certain goal for the day, we can actually feel that we are improving, and keeping pace with time.

But sadly, time is always faster than us... it's already 4 days, and it's all just not enough to finish it off.

But in the end, just do your best, just learn all that you can, and most importantly
JUST FEEL IT.

I've Been listening to "The Lion King" soundtrack, and each time I listen to it I become more and more hooked to it... It really pulls you...

It's very Majestic and full of Feelings, the type of music I enjoy a lot.

From Elton John's award winning "Can you Feel the Love Tonight" to Hans Zimmer's Powerful musics, to Lebo M's energetic African Choir, I notice three very prominent Instruments: 1st being the Drums... aw come on, African music without drums? that's not African music.... But I had enough of drums for the moment.... The 2nd being the Flute, usually the melody, nothing much special though.... The 3rd, this instrument really caught my attention. The French Horn, can be heard in almost every song, even "Can you Feel the Love Tonight" starts with the French Horns. I suppose the French Horn brings along with it a very Majestic Sound, unique in itself, I really enjoyed the sound, now I have much more respect for the French Horn Players.

PS. As for those who thought I was going to write band... wait a day later... let me break a few more bones before I write...

K.Lumpur Report

Back to Putra Heights.... Been pretty interesting... Ever since my cousins moved up from Johor to here, it's still fun... But they are going back to J.B. for two days to get the SPM results, so only managed to meet up with them for a night.

Currently at my Aunt's place, a real nice apartment, though it'd be more peaceful without any of my younger cousins running around making sound pollution...

Will be going for some shopping later, planning on finding some books to read. But none of the books so far seems to pull me. Will be looking for a pair of pants as well, cause I lost another one to band..... All ripped up from the rough practices... And I will definitely go to electronics section, paradise of gadgets...

Will be back by Tueday, and good thing too... Thank goodness AhBoon declared this weekend a holiday for the band, if not I'll miss a whole lot of stuf... Junt's coming... Be prepared, Percussion, prepare to go on I.D.I.O.T. mode again.... Intensive Drum Informative Observation & Training...

The art of DS - Drum Solo

Holding two sticks and hitting a thing called drum, is an art form when played with rhythm. Feeling rhythm with beat sense. Sensing the beat with grooving...

What am talking about??... Just play the drum man... You gotta feel it... Just feel it...

Well, we (the battery) been practicing more vigorously day by day, keeping pace with time.. I dare say that I'm satisfied with my pogress so far. I just hope that we can make it and not break it.

Send in the Clowns

I have been searhing around, and found a very nice song, "Send in the Clowns" from the musical "A little Night Music". Despite what the name suggests, this is no circus song, but it's a ballad, altough some say it's also a waltz because of the 12/8 time signature. The term "send in the clowns" reflects a failed theather show whereby the last resort is to "send in the clowns". The song however reflects the failed relationship between the lover and the singer, sung in an angry, regreting tune. There are several version.. the original being sung:

This version is very nice, performed by Judy Collins

The next being the official song of the DCI team Santa Clara Vanguard.

This version is the piano version. I'm currently trying learn this song... Wish me luck XP...
